For increased performance write behind caching is used to write data to the fixed disks, this means that in the event of a system failure there is a possibility that data would not be completely written to the disk. If you have a system critical application you can disable this functionality to be sure that data is written directly to the disk bypassing the cache.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new Binary value, or modify the existing value called 'DriveWriteBehind' using the settings below.

Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.

DriveWriteBehind	REG_BINARY	00 00 00 00

Settings:

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem]
Name: DriveWriteBehind
Type: REG_BINARY (Binary Value)
Value: (00 00 00 00 = disable, 01 00 00 00 = enable write behind)
